The International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) is inviting abstracts for its 2026 conference, hosted by the University of Galway. The conference theme, Peripheries and Connections: Media, Communication and Transformation, explores how media systems operate within a world that is increasingly polarised yet deeply interconnected.
The theme encourages critical engagement with the tensions between centres and margins—whether geographical, cultural, political, or conceptual. It also invites scholars to consider how media navigate and challenge boundaries when confronting urgent issues such as climate change, migration, representation, and digital inequality.
Abstracts must be submitted to one of IAMCR’s Sections or Working Groups, each offering its own detailed call and thematic focus.
