  • Hilary Ng’weno Conference

Hilary Bonface Ng’weno left an indelible mark on Kenya’s media and publishing landscape, earning him media icon status across print and broadcast platforms. Before his passing, Ng’weno donated his work to Moi University which led to the establishment of The Hilary Ng’weno Centre for East Africa Media Research in 2015. The second Hilary Ng’weno Conference is set to explore the theme of “Sustainability of Information Generation, Dissemination, Consumption, and Preservation.” This conference aims to delve into the crucial aspects of maintaining the vitality and longevity of information across various stages.   • The International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) Conference

Date: June 30 – July 4

Location: Christchurch, New Zealand

The International Association for Media and Communication Research -IAMCR- hosts an annual conference. The 67th conference will be hosted by the University of Canterbury under the theme “Whiria te tāngata: Communicative projects of decolonising, engaging, and listening. Whiria te tāngata (weaving people together), is a Māori proverb (whakataukī) about the strength that comes through common purpose.   • The East African Communication Association (EACA) Conference

Established in 2011 by a group of Journalism, Media, and Communication scholars in East Africa, EACA serves as a vital platform for fostering dialogue and sharing research on media and communication in the region. The 2024 South African Communications Association (SACOMM) conference, will take place under the theme “The Politics of the Present: Critical Communications Research Here and Now.” This conference aims to provide a focused exploration of the contemporary political landscape and the significance of being present in addressing current challenges. Researchers and educators across various fields of communications research, including media studies, journalism, screen studies, cultural studies, organizational and strategic communications, as well as visual communications research, are invited to reflect on the here-and-now while sharing their latest findings and theoretical frameworks on the theme.
